| buttheymarrybrunettes asked: I do take issue with illegal immigration. Considering how hard it is for a lot of people who come here legally (and I don't just mean nowadays, I mean all the people who've come since the beginning of the US) it seems to me that it's dishonoring all the hard work they've done and giving all immigrants a bad name. Plus I'm a stickler for the rules, so lying your way into getting to stay in a country doesn't seem very honorable to me. Anywho |

| buttheymarrybrunettes asked: I don't agree with what you said about immigrants suffering more than most natural-born citizens do their entire lives, because I know of quite a few first generation immigrant families who got their citizenship very quickly and are now much better off than almost all of my friends families who have been here for generations. And while I don't have a problem with immigrants (the vast majority of my DNA comes from immigrants after all) |
I know this is true too. Actually, once citizenship is attained, its really easy.
I was just ticked because some lady kept glaring at me and called me some really nasty slurs and it was pissing me off. Then I saw her shake the hand of a gay guy I knew and said, “Son, don’t be afraid of your sexuality.” And that got to me.

It doesn’t discriminate them from living with each other or even loving each other and whatnot." I agree that immigrant rights need to be more of a focus (which would be super easy if we would just make gay marriage legal and be done with it), but I'm just saying that it can keep them from living with each other because of lack of marriage makes immigration hard sometimes. Just saying. <3 |
Oh hell, just give gays the right to marry and lighten up immigration.
If people are scared of jobs being taken away, increase the rigor of education.
Stupid government.

Has anyone thought to make a point for immigrants rights?
Right now, in the media, gays are getting full attention, because of their inability to marry each other. It doesn’t discriminate them from living with each other or even loving each other and whatnot. They don’t have to work 36 hour shifts because they don’t have a greencard. They don’t have to face constant discrimination of working capacity based on outward appearance.
Don’t get me wrong, I support gay marriage 200%. I don’t support people coming up to me and telling me that I steal their jobs. I don’t support the government turning a blind eye on hate crimes against minorities. Right after 9/11 a sardarji was burnt alive (according to my mother) because of the high anti-Muslim sentiment. Poor Muslims were unable to find jobs after 9/11 because they had been detained by the government and had black marks on their record.
I’m personally a US citizen, born and raised. My dad, mom and sister are US citizens too. But my dad and mom came to the US with next to nothing: the clothes on their back, a cheap job that paid ny dad about $2000 a month after taxes, and that’s it. Yet they made a name for themselves with all the discrimination.
I’ve seen it firsthand.
All I hope is that with the media frenzy for gay marriage (which, I again state that I support), I hope that maybe people won’t go back and make fun of the local Indian that owns a motel or the Mexican for having some beans and tortillas for lunch. Most Americans have stuff handed to them on a silver platter. Immigrants suffer more waiting for citizenship than natural citizens suffer in their whole life.
Feel free to send me a message if you want to debate this.
